There are two tomatoes, a little cucumber and some leafy greens in the fridge. They might seem like a handful of unrelated ingredients, but they are already the beginning of something lovely. Colour is a simple invitation to notice what you have and try a new combination.
Start with something familiar
Keep a base you enjoy and change just one ingredient. Add pepper, a little grated carrot or fresh herbs to a salad you often make. Curiosity doesn’t need a big change.
Think about texture, too
Crunchy cucumber, soft roasted vegetables and fresh leaves bring different textures to the same plate. Try pairing something fresh with an ingredient left from yesterday’s cooking.
Let the season give you ideas
Before writing your list, look at what is already in the kitchen. At the market, choose one seasonal vegetable you would like to try. There is no goal to fit every colour into every meal.
Add one new ingredient. Keep what you love.
